Background: The product of an extramarital affair, Niamh was a cursed child from the get-go. It came as no surprise to her god-fearing father that she was born underweight, sickly, and entirely deaf. She was shut out from most of her family, and, if not for the love of her grandfather (though he had no biological relation to her), she would have grown up dumb as well. He saw something in her that went past the sin his daughter-in-law had committed, and with his affection Niamh recovered from her childhood illnesses.

A retired priest himself, Niamh’s grandfather began tutoring the quiet girl. She began to pick up skills from him, becoming a formidable healer herself. They moved to Al de Baran and lived comfortably together for ten years.

Unfortunately, this happy life couldn’t last. Niamh’s grandfather was already very old, and a particularly disastrous year left him too weak to care for her. One morning, she woke up to find that he was no longer there. Her grandfather had disappeared and Niamh, schooled but unable to care for herself, was up a creek.

Then, through through a strange turn of fate, she was met by three bounty hunters who, needing a healer, decided to take her under their wing (we should really discuss this in detail lolz).

With them, Niamh found more opportunities to socialize, and even began to learn how to “speak” by copying mouth movements. She is still very bad at this, and, since she cannot listen to herself, will probably not improve much.
Personality: Niamh has never let being deaf get her down. Though her “real” family never cared for her, she had her “grandfather’s” love growing up and, later, the love of her three “sisters.” She is a strong supporter of love in all shapes, sizes, and forms, and seems to understand its importance.

She is happy in a quiet sort of way (duh, she can’t exactly talk about it), and is quite energetic. She can be considered a spitfire.

While not easily frustrated, Niamh sometimes finds it difficult to communicate with people that don’t know her.
